A single family residence & guest house.. a sanctuary, providing an oasis of ephemeral experiences and meditative moments in the Arizona desert.
This design for a retired couple features a single family main home, and a small guest house to accommodate visiting grown children, and grandchildren. The home emphasises tall interior spaces, natural materials, and a strong connection to the surrounding desert environment.

The “snail” loosly resembles just that, and acts as a counterpart to the main residence, “the bird”. In this one-bedroom, one-bathroom guest house with a kitchen, circulation curls around an interior courtyard at the center of the home.
